Soorya Kuloor

President & CEO

Soorya Kuloor is the President & CEO of Symbiant Analytics. Soorya has more than 23 years of experience in the utility industry. Most of his career, Soorya has focused on founding and building technical teams that are focused on development and delivery of software, analytics and simulation solutions for the utility industry. He has led multiple analytics solutions deployment projects at utilities and partner vendors. He has also led and performed multiple analysis studies for transmission and distribution utilities, and regulatory authorities for DER integration and optimization. He has also published number of articles in industry publications and magazines. An avid speaker, he has also presented at multiple industry forums such as FERC, IEEE, DistribuTECH and other conferences on distribution system analytics and optimization.

Before founding Symbiant, Soorya was Practice Director for Distribution Operations and CTO for Advanced Grid Analytics at Landis+Gyr. Soorya was the co-founder and CTO of GRIDiant Corporation, where he led the development of a suite of Grid Analytics products, which was acquired by Landis+Gyr in 2014. His experience includes CTO position at Optimal Technologies, and lead software development positions at Hewlett-Packard, Agilent Technologies and Verano. Soorya holds a Ph.D. in Power System Optimization from the University of Calgary, Canada.

Chethana Kuloor

Chief Analytics Architect

Chethana Kuloor is the Chief Analytics Architect for Symbiant. She is a seasoned leader, architect, developer and data analyst with over 16 years of experience in software product development for utility industry. She is also a subject matter expert (SME) in electric, gas, and water utility planning and operational domain and skilled in problem solving using mathematical and analytical software solutions. All her career, she was directly involved with the design and development of many analytical solutions in the electric utility domain including AMI meter data analytics, real-time system monitoring, distributed energy resources (DER) planning, reliability improvement and other smart grid applications. She is very proficient in power flow and optimization analysis and application of power flow analysis to improve distribution network operation and planning. Chethana was also directly involved in delivering many of customer projects including utilities such as PHI, SMUD, BWP, GPA and SCE. 

Prior to Symbiant, she worked as a Senior System Architect for 5 years with Landis+Gyr. There she served as a senior architect, developer and the SME leading a 15 members development team that consisted software developers, power system engineers and SQA engineers.  Prior to Landis+Gyr, Ms. Kuloor was the Product Development Lead for GRIDiant Corporation where she was serving as the SME, lead systems architect, and a developer. Prior to GRIDiant, Ms. Kuloor was Product Development Manager for AskOT for Optimal Technologies. Chethana holds a M.Eng. degree in Software Engineering from the University of Calgary, Canada, and B.E degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, Karnataka, India.
